Becoming a mother is a joy for most women but how do you deal with the physical changes that alter your body after delivery? As the body grows to accommodate the baby, stretch marks may result but they often can be improved by self-massage when they are still in their red phase.
However, despite a woman’s best efforts there are occasions when the excess skin and the ligaments simply will not stretch back and after having a child you might find yourself so busy with taking care of your newborn baby that fitting exercise into yourdaily routine is right out impossible.
Nowhere else is pregnancy more evident than a woman’s abdomen. It was the nine-month home to your infant.
Abdominal liposuction is thus a common solution that many women try after pregnancy, to reclaim their pre-pregnancy body.
To restore the abdomen, an abdominoplasty is performed to adjust the stomach wall. In this procedure skin is lifted off the abdomen starting just above the groin and going up to near the rib cage.
The four most popular techniques used for abdominal liposuction include super-wet liposuction, tumescent liposuction, ultrasound-assisted liposuction (or UAL) and dry liposuction.
Super-wet liposuction involves the injecting of a solution made of saline in combination with the anesthetic and adrenaline into the abdomen to help with the loosening and removal of the fatty deposits.
Tumescent liposuction, encompasses the use of tumescent local anesthetic and small diameter cannulae, has created a significantly safer procedure than the initial dry, semiwet, and wet techniques. Patients are able to have a significant reduction in unwanted focal adiposities, which are refractory to diet and exercise.
Ultrasound-assisted liposuction sends ultrasonic waves through the cannula emulsify or liquefy the fat while traditional liposuction requires manual effort to pulverize adipose tissue.
Ultrasonic waves actually target fat cells specifically, causing them to “implode” and liquify for suction removal.
Ultrasonic techniques make difficult fibrous areas easier to treat than traditional methods.
Dry liposuction is the traditional way and not very often used now as it causes more tissue trauma and bruising than ultrasonic techniques due to tissue destruction necessary to manually break up the fat.
